FRANCISCO FERRER, artistic director of Pacha Ibiza and coordinator of Lío Ibiza, started working for the Group in 1985 by chance when he was studying tourism and stood out due to his charisma and people skills. His journey with the firm started when he, as the leader of his class, organized a party at Pacha to raise funds for the end of year trip. What he did not know back then was that it would become the most exciting journey of his life. From minute one he became part of the family and started working from the very bottom: taking charge of the ticket sales, helping with the artistic team, and promoting the artists all the way to becoming one of the most prominent figures within the company and its ambassador around the world.

Why would you recommend our readers to visit Ibiza? And Formentera?

Ibiza is unique, it has absolutely everything, and I’m not just talking about the parties. It is much more than that. There’s nature, beaches, countryside… We are also lucky and privileged to have another sister island: Formentera. Every time I put foot on it, I feel like I’m in the Caribbean. It has the most crystal-clear waters and finest sand in the world.

How has Pacha changed since you became part of the team?

I started in 1985 and since then I have seen many changes. Then it was another world, a small family business.

The greatest change has been the music. Before you came to Ibiza to discover what was going to be on trend in the future. The rest of the world would be listening to those tracks much later, during the winter. Now, a record comes out and you can hear it everywhere in the world at once.

What is your favorite spot in Ibiza and Formentera?

Es Vedra is fascinating as well as all the little coves in the north of the island. For sunset… without a doubt San Antonio Bay.

What is the secret of being able to surprise your crowd year after year and that visitors want to come to Pacha Ibiza at least once during their holidays?

I would say it is about being at the forefront, being the trend. One of the secrets is that Pacha is a classic. We understand the importance of staying current, but also giving great service to our clients. Giving them what they expect but without losing sight of Pacha’s heritage.

Any interesting anecdote with a celebrity in all those years?

Far too many. One of them is when Bono from U2 visited last year. He was doing a tour around Spain, and he asked me for an aspirin to soothe his headache. He was very kind and grateful. Another fun one was seeing Mick Jagger dancing on Pacha dancefloor or Anne Hathaway participating in a show because she was a friend of friends.

What has Ibiza that you can’t find anywhere else in the world?

The mix. Here you can pick any activity. You have World Heritage Sites, gastronomy, culture, leisure, and nature.

What is the latest project you have been working on?

Lío as we are opening one in London in October and then we have Lío Dubai and Lío Las Vegas.

What singles you out as a person?

I would say I’m someone who really enjoys his job. I always say I’m in a gold cage because I dedicate so many hours to work on projects but I feel happy doing it and also because I have a great team and our clients’ gratitude.
