Why would you recommend our readers to visit Sant Josep?
For someone who has been living all his live in Sant Josep de sa Talaia is very difficult to sum up all the reasons to visit our municipality. Each element is better than the next, from its natural landscapes, its culinary offer and cultural wealth, and this is without mentioning all the sport options we offer.
What is your favorite spot in Sant Josep?
Again, it is very difficult to choose just one spot, given the expansion of its rural and coastal areas. However, my heart chooses where I live, Cala Vadella, and the fisher hut where I spend a lot of hours.
The sport sector in Ibizais becoming very appealing. Do you believe this sector will slowly become as relevant as its nightlife?
Surely. From the institutions, those who are responsiblefor this sector are trying to make the sport sector one of the biggest assets to compliment the rest of offers on the island. Each one of them bring value and the island would not be the same without them.
What are you doing at the Town Hall of Sant Josep to turn Ibiza an island for sportspeople?
Apart from organizing our own sporting events, such as Beach Polo, which is practically the only one in the Balearics in this discipline – this year we are celebrating its 20th anniversary – it is important to support all the sport clubs and organizations that, with a lot of effort, organize multiple competitions in the municipality of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia.
What events are more popular at a national and international level?
It is also complicated to choose due to the widevariety of competitions, but I could give some examples such as the BTT, the Cyclo-Tourist Vuelta, Ibiza Half Marathon, and the 10K race and this year for the first time we are hosting the national Footvolley league.
How has Ibiza changed in the last years?
Precisely the sport sector is one of the most evident examples of the positive change in Ibiza in the last years. It is important to highlight that the local and insular institutions have strived to bring healthy tourism allowing us to de-seasonalize the arrival of visitors, in a way that it is more and more respectful with our surroundings and the people of Ibiza.
What does Sant Josep have that other tourist destinations don’t?
Thanks to its area, Sant Josep is one of the few destinations in the Mediterranean that features nature, culture and nightlife. The visitors that choose to spend a few days in our region know that the possibilities are endless, and this is why they come year after year.
Lastly, what dish from the traditional cuisine would you recommend?
I can’t choose… maybe ‘bullit de peix’, it is a unique dish made up of fish stew and a very thin rice paella.
And for dessert?
My wife’s ‘greixonera’, which is a type of bread-and-butter pudding.
